Try out From Software’s beast on Nintendo’s hybrid. Those of you keen to try out From Software’s Dark Souls: Remastered on Nintendo’s Switch ahead of its October 19th release can do so this weekend, from the 21st to the 23rd. A network test is going ahead this weekend in Europe and North America and will allow players to explore the Undead Parish and explore the single player and multiplayer features. The Switch version offers up to six players online with dedicated servers and the test demo is up on the eShop now and will cost you 888MB of storage space....

Gothic, the 2001 cult classic RPG from Piranha Bytes, may get a remake, depending on fan reaction to a new playable teaser. If the project goes forward, THQ Nordic will develop it, which acquired Piranha Bytes this year. Piranha Bytes made a name for itself crafting mid-budget, idiosyncratic RPGs that never quite broke through to mainstream success but garnered devoted followings. After the Gothic series, Piranha Bytes went on to make Risen and ELEX, but many players still see Gothic as the developer’s best work....

For those who were planning on buying a PlayStation 4 in Canada, yesterday would’ve been a good day. According to the Toronto Sun, the PlayStation 4 will have a price hike of $50.00 effective today. The price, which was $399.99, will jump to $449.99. Along with the PlayStation 4, the DualShock 4 and PlayStation Camera will also experience price hikes. The DualShock 4 and PlayStation Camera will now retail for $64....

Sony has announced that the PlayStation 5 has exceeded 30 million units sold, signaling an end to the console shortage. Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan shared this update at the company’s CES tech conference, marking an increase of five million units since the November 1 report of 25 million sold. Jim Ryan said, “We truly appreciate the support and patience of the PlayStation community as we managed unprecedented demand amid global challenges over the past two years....

Real talk: who hasn’t played The Witcher 3 at this point? PlayStation Now, Sony’s streaming subscription for PlayStation platforms and PC, is bolstering its library with a handful of solid games in June. Sure, there are probably only three people left on planet Earth who haven’t played The Witcher 3, but it lands on PlayStation Now in June alongside a trio of Sonic games, Virtua Fighter 5, and Slay the Spire....

It’s sports season once again, I guess. I don’t really follow sports, but looking at the PlayStation Store top sales chart for September 2016 it definitely looks like all you sports fans are excited about something. On PS4, sports games took up the top four spots on the chart, as well as the top two spots for PS3. Pokémon GO hasn’t been this buggy since launch. Pokèmon GO is getting a new set of research tasks for November 2018. These ones will focus on bug type Pokèmon, including a new character from Gen 4 and a shiny version of a particular Gen 1 fan-favorite. Shedinja will be available to those who complete a research breakthrough for the month, marking the first time this Pokèmon has been available in GO....

One of the original draws to Pokémon GO when it first came out last year was the ability to use smart phones’ cameras to see Pokémon appearing in the real world through Augmented Reality. Recently, it was announced that Pokémon GO‘s AR capabilities are being upgraded to what they are calling AR+. According to the official statement, AR+ will set wild Pokémon to a specific point in the real world, which will allow players to get closer and farther away from them at will....

A Pokémon dataminer has claimed that Pokémon Legends: Arceus will not feature Effort Values (EVs) nor Individual Values (IVs) — two “hidden stats” featured in every mainline Pokémon title that determine each Pokémon’s effectiveness in battle. Rather, the game will reportedly introduce a new stat, Effort Levels, that seems to serve a similar purpose. Pokémon dataminer Abyzab, who seems to have obtained a pre-release copy of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, shared this information on Sunday, alongside screenshots that appear to show how Effort Levels are displayed when viewing a Pokémon’s information....

The two cover Legendaries from Pokémon Sword and Shield will be featured on this special edition of the handheld console. Today (July 10), Nintendo finally officially revealed the long-rumored Nintendo Switch Lite, a dedicated handheld version of the console that will be smaller and lack some features available with the normal Switch, but will be $100 cheaper. The Switch Lite will launch with three possible color schemes, but an edition celebrating the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield will be coming out a little later....

Pokémon Go is rewarding players for helping clean the planet in this upcoming Earth Day. Last year for Earth Day, Niantic encouraged fans to participate in cleanups by offering them rewards in Pokémon Go. This led to over four thousand players worldwide picking up around 4.5 tons of garbage for Earth Day last year. This year, Niantic plans to do the same thing. For players to contribute, they need prove they have participated in Earth Day cleanup on Twitter....

Frontier, at this point, are masters of the Tycoon and Simulator formula. It should come to no surprise that even in its early stages, Planet Zoo is already shaping up to be a fantastic game. Bloober Team has just released an official teaser trailer and a gameplay video of their upcoming PlayStation 4 horror themed party game, BRAWL. BRAWL is a brand new party title which pits up to four players against each other on various “maze-like levels” where players fight to survive. By using bombs and abilities players must take out the opposition to win. Bloober Team has described the title as “Bomberman meets MOBA” (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) type of game....
