The Official Trailer for Doctor Strange goes into full “strange mode,” with trippy visuals overlapping with action snippets and a few familiar faces. One of these faces might be Patrick Stewart himself, who famously portrayed Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men films.

Variants of Stephen Strange will play into the film’s conflict; multiversal jumps across many dimensions; Nightmare references; Wanda searching for her children – the footage throws a lot toward the audience.
But the biggest tease that the trailer provides is the possible first appearance of the Illuminati. Not only that, but a charming voice followed by the sight of a bald head speculates that Mutants are finally here. Patrick Stewart, who played Charles Xavier from 2000 to 2017 where the character ultimately meets his demise in Logan.
While the multiverse makes “What If…?” scenarios totally possible, we’re unsure how Professor Xavier will play into the narrative. We might be in the dark, for now, Stewart spoke with Comicbook to shed some light on the rumors:
Even though we had to experience Charles Xavier’s fall, the character might return in a different form thanks to the multiverse. Perhaps Patrick Stewart is playing it safe and taking the Andrew Garfield route of lying to the press until the movie officially releases. Either way, the MCU is vastly changing, so it’ll definitely be interesting to see everyone finally come together.
