Both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are coming to retail.
One of the surprise hits from last year was Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, which provided an interesting look into psychosis and was developed by the small indie team Ninja Theory. Up to this point, the game was only available digitally, but now those who enjoy collecting physical discs will soon be able to get their hands on a retail copy of the game.
Ninja Theory recently announced that physical copies of both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will be coming to store shelves on December 4. The PlayStation 4 version will be distributed by publisher 505 Games, who have published such games as PAYDAY 2 and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, as well as distributing games like Stardew Valley and Inside. Meanwhile, the Xbox One version of the game will be distributed by none other than Microsoft itself. It was announced earlier this year at E3 that Microsoft had acquired Ninja Theory, meaning that all of their games moving forward will be Xbox exclusives.
For those who missed out on it when it was first released, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice tells the story of Senua, a Celtic warrior who recently lost her lover, Dillion. Senua travels to Celtic hell, which becomes physically manifested through her psychosis, hoping to be able to save Dillion from death.
