Pixar announced at the D23 that Inside Out 2 will be released in 2024. Variety reports that Amy Poehler will return to reprise her role as Joy. However, new emotions will be present as the character Riley deals with being a teenager. This sequel will also mark the return of the screenwriter Meg LeFauve, who wrote the original movie with Pete Docter and Josh Cooley. The original movie is considered one of Pixar’s best films, garnering over $800 million at the box office and winning best animate feature at the 2016 Oscars. The film’s success and legacy made Inside Out 2 inevitable, and Riley’s struggles through her teens should prove to be compelling.
Is Pixar Bringing Anyone Else Coming Back For ‘Inside Out 2?’
As has already been said, Riley is now a teen dealing with different emotions than she had in middle school. For that reason, emotions that we regularly saw in Inside Out may not be present in Inside Out 2.
The only thing we can be sure of is that Amy Poehler’s Joy will still be trying to run the show. What else can we expect? We may not know until Pixar releases Inside Out 2 in 2024. Regardless, we have every reason to expect a strong follow-up to one of Pixar’s best films.
