Pixar Welcomes Maggie Simpson
It’s been a known tradition for the animated family over at Pixar to include a short film that accompanies their feature one before the curtains open. Ever since A Bug’s Life (1998), audiences were treated with an animated short that was also developed by them up until Coco (2017), which premiered the 21-minute Olaf’s Frozen Adventure.
With Onward being released next week, one of Disney’s newly acquired properties will make an appearance with one of television’s most beloved babies in place of one Pixar’s very own shorts.
The Simpsons will be making their next film appearance with Playdate With Destiny after an Instagram post showcased Maggie Simpson in European land and sea as she sits alongside a charming looking fellow. She stares off into the smooth sunset with her signature pacifier still in her mouth, with a signature from creator Matt Groening at the bottom right – “Exclusively in theaters!” the post finishes off with.
Not much as been revealed about the plot just yet. The Instagram post tells us of a date our dear Maggie is in, on top of a beautiful view and dressed similarly like Audrey Hepburn.

The Big Purchase
The Simpsons were one of the many properties that Disney had acquired that came along with the purchase of 20th Century Fox, and the show’s entirety was soon added to their increasingly popular streaming service, Disney+. The show has been known to poke fun at the company on previous occasions. In their promo for Disney+, Bart was complaining about how he doesn’t care how much Disney would pay for them to dress like other owned popular properties for their teaser trailer. Bart flashes the audience after his overweight father, Homer, in an Iron Man suit, shows him a knuckle sandwich.
Playdate With Destiny will premiere next week, Friday, March 6, along with the fantasy tale of Onward, where two brothers embark on a quest to bring back their half-revived father after tampering with a magic staff.
