This morning at the Gamescom convention in Cologne, Germany Microsoft announced they will bring crossplay for consoles for the game Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. The game’s developer announced this feature at the Inside Xbox Gamescom presentation this morning. The developer, Brendon Greene, spoke about who will be able to play the game against each other this fall.
The announcement of the crossplay feature came during the reveal of Season 4 of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. The Season 4 reveal highlighted the new items coming to the console version of the game this fall. Some items included in the reveal was the Season 4 Survivor Pass and the now 100 plus different rewards that come with the pass. The update to the fan-favorite map Erangal is also coming to console with the new season.
Greene said the goal for the team is to have crossplay be available for testing in late September of this year. The cross-play feature will be playable on the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds test servers. The feature will then be available to everyone by going live late October on the normal game’s servers.
