Just last week, rumors surfaced about a major upcoming update to the PlayStation 4 that would be coming in August, which would be bringing some much requested features, such as MP3 support. However, through an officially verified account on Reddit, a Sony employee has given some release window information on certain PlayStation 4 features in the works along with the dismissal of a rumor about PS Now.

The Sony employee was asked about the much discussed DLNA, MP3, and video support, in which he responded:

  • “I’d say early 2015 for DLNA.MP3 and Video Players by the Holiday season (MP3 maybe sooner)”

He also was asked about the rumor that PS Now would allow you to play your old games that you’ve purchased digitally on your PlayStation 3. Sadly, he outright said these rumors were incorrect and you would not be able to do this at all. Lastly, he also mentioned that the PlayStation App would be getting a redesign sometime in the near future.
