Recently, it was said that keeping your PlayStation 5 in the vertical position could damage your console. The YouTuber TheCod3r revealed that he was a victim of harassment and misinformation. Many fans and even fellow YouTubers were misrepresenting his words about the issue with the hardware, and now he has offered up some clarification. The YouTuber said he had not found the Liquid Metal issue on PS5s that had not been opened straight from the factory. Many were confused that this issue was happening with PlayStation 5s that were still in the box, unopened from Sony.

The YouTuber Cod3r went on to clarify that he can’t verify how often this has happened with the millions of PlayStation 5 consoles that have been sold over the past two years. He has however stated he had gotten a number of consoles needing repairs, and the problem was from the Liquid Metal leaking.
The whole debatable issue is not verified, but has happened to PS5s, which were in vertical position for a long period of time, so it is worth taking possible precautions to make sure your console is safe. But if you are worried about your PlayStation 5 console getting damaged while in the box from the factory, you should be okay.
