Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were recently released and for fans of the Grass/Poison-type Pokémon that is Bulbasaur, here is a list of its locations within the game. Coming from the very first installment of the Pokémon franchise, Bulbasaur holds the place of #1 Pokémon in the legendary Pokédex as the adorable leafy monster debuted in the very first Pokémon game: Pokémon Red and Blue.

As Bulbasaur is not in Pokémon Briliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s Sinnoh region, players must wait until completing the game. On completion, gamers can dive into a post-game which allows them to catch Pokémon outside of the Sinnoh region. Pokémon trainers can catch Pokémon from the Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn region which makes this the perfect time to search for Bulbasaur.

While past iterations of the franchise have forced players to transfer Pokémon between games, the Grand Underground fixes that. The Grand Underground allows players to catch their own Bulbasaur, meaning the Pokémon has the same Trainer ID as the player and can be nicknamed.

It’s important to note that although these areas might be available before conquering the Elite Four, Bulbasaur will not appear until players obtain the National Dex. This is only given to players after they have seen every Pokémon in Sinnoh and then heading to Sandgem Town to speak to Professor Rowan. If players have an issue finding Bulbasaur in one of its habitats, this can be rectified by exiting and re-entering. Multiple Bulbasaurs can be obtained by continuing to search hideaways or breeding them at the Pokémon Daycare.
