Of the more than a dozen types of Pokémon, they are all weak or less effective to some other type(s). Psychic type Pokémon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl have weaknesses against three different types. When you understand these, you can use your Psychic companion better and choose the right Pokémon when fighting against one.

Psychic Type Weaknesses in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl

Psychic Pokémon moves are always good to use against the likes of Poison and Fighting types. However, they don’t do as well against Bug, Dark, and Ghost types. Those three types are the only weaknesses a Psychic type has in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl.

So, Pokémon like Scizor (a Brilliant Diamond exclusive Bug/Flying type) can cause some good damage. Spiritomb, the dual Dark/Ghost type, can especially give Psychic type some trouble. This is important to keep in mind if you have a Psychic type when going after the Champion Cynthia. She has a Level 61 Spiritomb in her arsenal.

To keep your party diverse and ready for anything, consider balancing things out with some Bug, Dark, or Ghost types. You never know when you’ll stumble across a Pyschic in the wild. But if you don’t have a good Pokémon that falls within one of the three types, then you can always train some of your others to learn some moves of those types.

Even with the weaknesses, the right Psychic type can hold its own even if faced with those Pokémon or moves. For instance, Mew and Alakazam are potent companions. They may see some damage against Ghost, Bug, and Dark moves, but they can still hold their own if handled right.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl: All Ground Type Weaknesses

In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, keep a lookout for Pyschic type weaknesses. These Pokémon, especially the dual types, can make the battle a bit tougher than you may have anticipated. Keep this in mind too if you know you’re up against a strong Pyschic type.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl is available on Nintendo Switch.
