In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, no Pokémon is as elusive to catch as Mesprit. It’s not that this Legendary creature is so powerful that it decimates your line-up. No, it’s just that Mesprit runs. Mesprit will always run.
If you want to know where and how to catch it, we’ve got some useful tips for you to try out.
Catching Mesprit
Some Pokémon are easy enough to track down. You can even increase your chances of finding specific types with the right statues placed in your Secret Base.
But not Mesprit. The only way to figure out where to catch this flighty Pokémon is in the post-game of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. So, be sure to complete the story. Defeat the Elite Four, the Champion, and complete the Pokédex. From there, you can reach Lake Verity.
You probably remember this place. It’s where you met your starter Pokémon. Now, with it being restored, you can head to the center. There’s a cave you can enter, and that is where you find Mesprit. It will flee though on this first encounter. But from here on out, you have a chance of finding one in the wild. Mesprit will appear in tall grass throughout the Sinnoh Region. A quicker way to narrow down a location is using a Marking Map on your Pokétch. Mesprit will have the cat-like icon.
Even when you find one, this is still a slippery Pokémon. The fact that it’s both Legendary and a Psychic-type make it even more difficult to keep in one place. So, you need to come prepared.
Having a Master Ball to spare is insanely helpful. Also, keep some Pokémon in your party that will ensure Mesprit can’t run. Those that have moves like Block and Mean Look prevent opponent Pokémon from escaping. This leaves you enough time to catch Mesprit.
Remember to weaken it first. Pokémon with any Paralyzing-like moves should wean down its health enough for your other Pokémon to trap it in place.
