Nothing is quite as essential as teaching your Pokémon new moves. Training new moves is a vital step to defeat other opponents and add more companions to your roster. In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, there are move tutors to help along the way. Don’t know where to start? That’s where we come in.
Finding Move Tutors in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
Veteran players of the franchise may remember how HMs (Hidden Machines) used to work. Now with Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, these have been replaced with TMs (Technical Machines). They are a single-use item to help Pokémon learn new moves, and they only work with specific Pokémon. Tracking these down isn’t the only way to gain new abilities, however. You can also track down some move tutors, making training your Pokémon in brand new moves easier than ever.
Move tutors are NPCs, and in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, you can find two of them. They’re found in the Sinnoh Region. One is available during the game, and the other can be found post-game.
Move Tutor 1
To find this move tutor, you’ll have to head to the northern section of Route 210. You’ll pass by a group of Psyduck and find your way to Grandma Wilma’s house. The only way to get to her house is with the Rock Climb ability.
This move tutor will teach you the Draco Meteor move, an epic Dragon-type move. Because of this, you have to talk to her with a Dragon-type Pokémon in your party that you’ve maxed out their friendship with.
Move Tutor 2
For the second move tutor, you’ll head to the Battle Zone to find Route 228. Unlock this post-game with the National Dex to explore the Fight Area beyond the Zone. This tutor will teach an Ultimate Move to each starter in their final evolution. Again, you’ll need to max out friendships with the specific Pokémon before training them in these moves.
Grass-type starters (Venusaur, Meganium, Sceptile, Torterra) learn Frenzy Plant. Fire-types (Charizard, Blaziken, Infernape, Typhlosion) learn Blast Burn. Water-types (Blastoise, Empoleon, Swampert, Feraligatr) learn Hydro Cannon.
