With more than a hundred Pokémon in the game, it can take a while to fill out that Pokédex. If you want to learn how to catch Darkrai in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you’ll have to have played previous games in the franchise.

How to Catch Darkrai in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Not all Pokémon are straightforward to catch as you unlock areas. With Darkrai, you can only catch them in Pokémon Legends: Arceus once you have beat the main storyline. Only then will the request unlock on the blackboard.

From there, Cael should speak with you and give you the “The Darksome Nightmare” request. He’ll direct you to an area that sits east of Clamberclaw Cliffs. You have to go to some large boulders. However, like some other creatures in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the time you go to catch Darkrai is important. You must go there at night, or nothing will happen. Once you do, a cutscene triggers, and Darkrai shows up.

Now, all you have to do is wear this Dark-type Pokémon down enough to use a Poké Ball on them. They will be at a level 70, too, so be sure to have the right Pokémon in your corner. Also, they tend to teleport around in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, so it might be a game of chase for a minute.

You have to do one thing before you even get this request, though. You have to have played Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. This is because the game will track your save from one of those games. Only with that saved data will you be able to catch Darkrai. It’s a similar bonus to what was done with the previous game as well that gave players powerful Pokémon.
