Kecleon, the last of Hoenn or Generation III/Ruby and Sapphire Pokemon to be added to Pokemon GO, has finally come to the augmented reality, social mobile game. After the Chespin Community Day ends on January 7 at 5:00 PM local time, Trainers are able to find and catch the chameleon Pokemon. However, one question still lingers in people’s minds (especially those who have spent hours trying to find it), can you catch a Shiny Kecleon in Pokemon GO right now?
Can you Catch a Shiny Kecleon in Pokemon GO?
At the time of writing, as far as I can tell, it seems Shiny Kecleon is not yet available in Pokemon GO. Considering Niantic rarely releases the Shiny version of a Pokemon that just debuted in their game, there is a huge chance that Shiny Kecleon will appear during the Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn – Global Event instead.
Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn should start just before the conclusion of the Mystical Wishes season on Saturday, February 25, 2023, and Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time. During the event, all Hoenn Pokemon will have an increased chance of spawning as Shinies, so there should be a huge chance that Shiny Kecleon will finally appear as well. Primal Kyogre and Groudon Raids are coming, too, so don’t miss that out!
How to Catch Kecleon in Pokemon GO
Kecleon will start appearing on top of random PokeStops once the Chespin Community Day ends. When you interact with the PokeStop Disc, you will receive a message telling you that an invisible object is preventing it from spinning. Look for the only visible spot of Kecleon: its signature red stripe. Start tapping on it until Kecleon disappears from the PokeStop. Exit the PokeStop, and you will encounter Kecleon in the Pokemon Go overworld. For more details, read up all about it in our How to Catch Kecleon guide.
Pokémon GO is available on iOS and Android.
