Every new generation of Pokemon gets a new mechanic to the games. Or at least it has since the sixth generation. Back during that generation, we got amazing mega evolutions. Then we got the Z-moves. After that, the new Dynamx mechanic, and now we have the Pokemon Terastal mechanic. It seems that some people who watched the recent Pokemon showcase are happy while others are not so much. This can be normal because we know that in every generation, these mechanics are abandoned. Is that going to happen during this Pokemon 9th generation? We’ll have to wait for the upcoming November release of these games.
Pokemon Terastal Mechanic Changes A Pokemon Type During Battle
Back when Pokemon X and Y were released, we got to experience mega evolutions. This concept was amazing and thankfully continued with the third-generation remakes and even in Pokemon Go. Then we were still able to use that mechanic during the seventh generation games. But it was gone in the last one. Now, we have gotten a glimpse during the showcase of the new Pokemon Terastal mechanic. Another thing that the company is implementing for their upcoming games. This Pokemon 9th generation will let players change their active Pokemon type during battle. It remains to see how good or bad the mechanic will be during the games.
If there is one thing that makes players sad is the fact that these mechanics get abandoned. The Dynamax mechanic was something that people thought came out of Pokemon Go. You battle raids with other players. Also, this Pokemon Terastal mechanic is moving more and more towards the Pokemon Go gameplay. No turns, no waiting, just hitting the big Pokemon. The design of the Terastal Pokemon is a bit strange, but the mechanic seems promising. Being able to change a Pokemon’s type during a battle in this Pokemon 9th generation could be fun. However, everything sounds great on paper until it’s put into practice. Players will be able to catch even stronger Pokemon with rare Terastal types by participating in raids. So, we’ll have to wait and see which types are the rarest and most powerful.
