If a match of Pokemon Unite is going especially bad you may just wonder, “How can I surrender?” This is typically something that will come to mind if you happen to have teammates that are AFK or just sorely incompetent. As Pokemon Unite is a MOBA it is very possible for a snowballing effect to build when one team attains the upper hand. It can be very frustrating to keep going when you know you have no chance of victory. While surrendering does allow you to end a match as quickly as possible, there are some things you should keep in mind when forfeiting to the other team. Here’s how to surrender (and everything you need to know about surrendering) in Pokemon Unite.

How to Surrender in Pokemon Unite

Surrendering in Pokemon Unite is a fairly simple task. One main thing to keep in mind is that you (or anyone else on your team) will be unable to initiate a surrender until at least 5 minutes has passed. First, you will either need to respawn at your base or teleport to it by holding down on the D-pad. Following that, you can bring up the scoreboard by pressing + (plus). From the scoreboard, press – (minus) to access the settings menu. From here you will be able to see a surrender button at the bottom of the screen – select it.

Once you initiate a surrender vote your team will also be asked to weigh in on the decision. If a majority of the team votes for surrender then the game will end and the opposing team will be awarded their victory.

Other Things to Keep in Mind

There are a couple of things to be aware of when it comes to surrendering.

Surrendering comes with no penalty to your Fair Play Points. Unlike hard quitting the game via the console or giving up and letting your character idle which do. However, when you surrender it is still a loss and you should expect to go down in rank if the match is ranked. Surrendering should really be a last-ditch effort if you know a match is not going to end in your team’s victory and you want to quickly move on to another game.

You can initiate three separate surrender votes within a match. These votes cannot come back-to-back and there is a 40 second wait period following each one. This is regardless of who initiated the last vote and who is initiating the new one.
