Do you want to be the very best? That no one ever was? Pokemon Unite is finally here and trainers everywhere are flocking to the new MOBA to prove their Poke-superiority. One very important part of the new game is choosing the correct items for your Pokemon to hold. These items allow for stat upgrades or other beneficial perks when heading into a battle.

While choosing the best items for your team to hold onto is a challenge in itself, one thing that may be on your mind is how to upgrade the items you do have. Upgrading items will allow your Pokemon to become even more powerful, allowing you to become the legendary trainer you’ve always wanted to be. Here’s how to upgrade items in Pokemon Unite.

How to Upgrade Items in Pokemon Unite

Upgrading items in Pokemon Unite is thankfully fairly simple. First, you need to make sure you are Trainer Level 9, which you can do by playing matches. To upgrade items, you must first amass some Aeos Tickets. This in-game currency can be used to purchase tons of things from the Aeos Emporium, but we are looking for one specific item – Item Enhancers. Look for these under the Items menu. They cost 10 Aeos Tickets each (or 1 Aeos Gem each, if you happen to have some of the premium currency).

After purchasing your Item Enhancers, navigate to the side menu by pressing X on the main menu. Select Battle Prep and then click on Held Items. From here you will be able to see all of your held items and upgrade them using your Item Enhancers. As items become higher level they require more and more Item Enhancers, so plan accordingly!

Ways to Get Aeos Tickets and Item Enhancers

You can earn Aeos Tickets and even Item Enhancers in a variety of ways in Pokemon Unite. Navigating to the Events tab will allow new players to claim a ton of both through rewards such as the Commemorative Release Gift and the 14-Day Welcome Gifts. You can also earn Aeos Tickets and Item Enhancers by completing missions, leveling up your trainer, or winning ranked matches. The free and premium battle passes also include both Aeos Tickets and Item Enhancers as rewards as you increase your level. Finally, you can earn both Tickets and Enhancers by pulling from the Energy Rewards for 100 Aeos Energy.

Pokemon Unite is available now for Nintendo Switch and will release for Android and iOS on September 21.
