In her interview, she brought up how Netflix’s involvement was crucial to the film’s creation and noted her thoughts on the Academy’s decision to choose CODA for Best Picture.

Jane Campion mentions if she had a future project to bring to Netflix, “I don’t think it would be hard for me if I wanted to do something because I’ve established a relationship, and they’re incredibly loyal.”

The Power of the Dog director continues to talk to BBC about how vital Netflix was in making her film.

“The film couldn’t have been made without them [Netflix] because we took it to the market, and there were several different people interested. But we had budgeted the cost of it, and the only people that were willing to go near that was Netflix.”

The Power of the Dog ended up losing Best Picture at the Oscars to the moving film CODA, about a hearing child in a family of deaf adults.
