Prince of Persia Remake seems to be coming sometime soon. At least according to MAX, a Guatemalan retailer. Just today the store has listed two versions of ‘Prince of Persia Remake‘ on their online page. The PlayStation 4 version is priced at $69.92 while the Nintendo Switch one is at $81.75. An Xbox One release for Prince of Persia Remake is nowhere to be found.
“This doesn’t look real,” you say? Well, a well-known video game industry journalist and insider Jason Schreier even retweeted the leak on Twitter, saying, “Video game retailers sure love leaking Ubisoft’s surprise announcements.”. I think his confirmation pretty much suggested that this Prince of Persia remake listing is indeed legit.
Although a release is somewhat confirmed, there’s still no clue what the story of this remake will be about. Is it going to be a retelling of The Sands of Time, another attempt to make a brand new story like Prince of Persia 2008, or even a remake of the original 1989 title? No one knows for now.
The last time Ubisoft made a console Prince of Persia game was back on May 18, 2010, releasing Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands to all available platforms; Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii, even Nintendo DS and PSP. Later, they revived the series for mobile, releasing the remake of 1993 MS-DOS classic The Shadow and the Flame for iOS and Android in 2013 and a runner game in 2018 titled Prince of Persia: Escape. Then Ubisoft made a VR escape room game and ran a Prince of Persia crossover event inside For Honor before letting the franchise rest again.
