For the second time in under two months, Ubisoft announced today yet another delay to the release of the highly-anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.
Taking to Twitter, Ubisoft Pune, the India-based branch of the French developer, advised that the game’s launch has been shifted to an as-yet-undisclosed date, suggesting an indefinite delay and possibly quite a wait for fans. The studio pointed to a desire to ‘deliver a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original’ as the reason behind the delay.

The statement reads:
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Delay
While Ubisoft attributed the initial The Sands of Time Remake delay – which pushed back a release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, from January 31st to March 18th – to COVID-precipitated development hurdles, the reasoning is a little more oblique this time around.
Reading between the lines, it appears the overwhelmingly negative response to what was a pretty rough looking announcement trailer seemingly hit home for Ubisoft Pune. Hopefully, the added development time should allow the studio to release a remake in line with fan expectations and suitably good to pay homage to the acclaimed 2003 original.
