GameStop has released the pricing information for the PS Vita’s Memory Units. The necessary memory cards for the handheld will come in multiple varieties, starting as small as $29.99 for 4GB all the way up to $119.99 for 32 GB. Being that these little memory bundles are proprietary to the PlayStation Vita, they cost more than your standard memory cards at all levels. 32 GB of memory isn’t much by today’s standards and can be found for much less than $120.
It’s quite possible that post release, an alternative to these pricey cards will arise. But for now, it looks like you’ll need to shell out a little extra if you plan on playing anything on that Vita you’ll have access to in February. The PlayStation Vita is due to launch in Japan on December 17th, followed by Europe and North America in February, where you’ll be able to pick up a 3G enabled version for $299.99 or the Wi-Fi version for $249.99.
With big digital distribution plans in the cards for the Vita, it will be interesting to see how these pricey, necessary accessories fair in 2012.
